Finally getting back to working on the shop. Wanted to figure out how to group like bracelets together and include photos. When I looked it up, originally, it showed I could only do it if I paid more. After working with a friend we found out that there is a way. It will make looking up products to purchase much easier, as well as greater ease when creating the products.

Now, I will finish working through adding all the products that I currently have pictures of. Hopefully that will only take another day or so to complete. Then I will need to have a photo shoot to photograph the remainder of my products. Photo shoot means picture taking, but then I have to edit, format, and upload to the site. If everything works out, I might be able to get all this done prior to going back to work (started vacation after work today and will not go back until first of the year!!).

So, I have spent most of the week working on the shop for the website. This is a few time consuming process.

First, you have to create categories and sub-categories for the products. This way each product can be categorized correctly and made easier to find. Then you have to create and entry for each product. Since my products are unique and individual, then there are a lot of entries to create. I have gotten through about 10 of them or so. It is going to take a while 🙂

I have also had to work on my photos – getting more, formatting them, uploading, etc. This is also very time consuming. And, this makes creating each product even more time consuming as well.

In addition to working on the shop, I decided to research an issue I was having. I have been trying to figure out how to get social media images to be clickable and take someone to my social media pages. I have tried for hours to get this to work through the functions of the widgets within the theme I have chosen within WordPress. Finally figured out last night that there is an option to edit with HTML. This has been a life changer.

I tinkered around with HTML when it first came out, but haven’t touched it in more than 20 years. Cool part is, it was kinda like riding a bike – I was able to pick it back up, with the help of a few reference sites 🙂

So, I finally feel like this might start going much better!! Just going to take time with all the product adds.

Who knew it would take so much research and time to build a website, even for a no code one.

I know it takes a great deal to create a website from scratch, so I went with a way to do it “not from scratch”. Well, this is still going to take a great deal of time lol. Even with a friends help and coming from the IT field, building a website is going to take a while.

I wanted something that would allow me to showcase my creations, discuss what goes into those creates, as well as getting to the point where I could sell them online and not just via craft fair events around the city. So, here we are at the beginning of this journey to attempt just that.

Please bear with me as we click and drag and learn where everything is and what everything does. Progress might be slow. There might be times where the site looks less than desirable. But, it will all come together one day and it will be well worth it!!
